DENTISTRY FOR CHILDREN – Waco, TX

A Smooth Transition From Baby to Adult Teeth

Following the toddler years, children enter into a transitionary phase where they start to lose their baby teeth so their permanent adult teeth can start to come in. Your child (just like the rest of us) will only get one set of adult teeth, so we want to make sure they are set up for success. At Brazos Kids Dental, we’ll keep a close eye on your child’s mouth during this period so we can make sure their new, lifelong smile has the best start possible.

When Will My Child Start Losing Baby Teeth?

Normally, the baby teeth will start to fall out starting around the age of six. It’s usually the first teeth to come in that are the first out as well. As the baby teeth exit, the adult teeth will replace them slowly but surely, and this entire process typically occurs between the ages of 6 and 13. Of course, some children start a little early or late and finish early or late, but as long as everything is happening in this general timeframe, they are on the right path.

Dental Services for School-Aged Children

Our team provides an array of services that can be tailored to suit school-aged children, and it all starts with routine checkups and cleanings twice a year. These enable our team to monitor your child’s oral development as well as remove any plaque or tartar that is starting to build up in new areas because their mouth is changing so much. If cavities develop (it happens), we can quickly fix them with tooth-colored fillings and crowns, and should they ever experience a toothache or knock out a tooth, we can see them right away with an emergency visit.
